Jason Somerville, the winner of the 2011 World Series of Poker $1,000 No-Limit Hold 'em event, has become the First Openly-Gay Male Poker Pro. He wrote on his blog on Tuesday that he'd always know he was gay but had never said anything about it. He came out to his close friends at the age of 22 and his parents later the same year. He described his parents initial reaction as “keep it to yourself, don't tell anyone”, but said their better now. |
